What is IndieHitz?
IndieHitz is a collective of both artists and promotional services for the artist, to help the artist to promote themself and get their music heard.

Why do you network to other music sites and radio stations?
This is simple. It's all about networking, the more indie sites working together the more you increase the coverage of getting your music heard. By networking we become a bigger force to take on the big guns in the industry. No one site will make a difference, but working together we will. Simple mathmatics.

Are you just another OMD?
No. We don't class ourself as an OMD, we are a "Career Launching Promotional Service". This website is just one of the many services we are offering artists and or our clients.

Who are your associate companies?
IndieHitz.net has a variety of associates, Quantum Illusions for multi media and graphic design. StormSurge Studios for an independent label. Plus a variety of other indie artist promotional websites.

Do you have free space for musicians?
Yes we do, at this stage you get 500mb of free space.

Can any musician join IndieHitz?
Yes but if you sign up and you were not invited then we allow you to put up 2 songs for us to take a listen to. The reason for this is we have our own independent record label StormSurge Studios. So we are looking for the more serious recording artists to sign up with us. Now if you are turned down this is not a bad thing you can always try again. If you are turned down you will receive an email as to exactly why and what we are looking for.

Can anyone join the forums and chat?
Anybody can join in on the forums. Both artists and listeners can interact and have fun.

How do we listen to the radio shows?
Look on the right hand side of the home page and you will see links for hifi and lofi live radio. If you look under the menu list on the left you will see a link that says Radio. This is Radio on demand which loads all of our artists randomly with all their songs....Xpresso radio is also radio on demand for now but we have other plans for that as well....and as soon as we get that together we will let everyone know...
Streaming radio is easy to use. Simply choose HiFi or LoFi and download the stream play file and choose open in application.
HiFi is for those on broadband and LoFi for those on dialup.

How can I get a spotlight on the home page of IndieHitz?
Once you have an artist page up with at least one track you could get a spotlight on the front page. The spotlights are completely random. This has its good points and bad points.
Being random, it could look like that one artist is getting more spotlight hits than another. But on the other hand there is no favoritisms. It also means as a new artist at IndieHitz you could have a spotlight as soon as you sign up.

Why do you not have your logo or link back on the artist pages?
Simple we are advertising the independent artists not ourself. On saying this there will be a very small link back to our home page saying Hosted at IndieHitz.net in the near future. This will be at the bottom of the artist page.

Where is IndieHitz.net hosted?
We have our own independent server that is situated in Spring Hill, Florida. We hope as time goes on that we will have more servers for other services as we grow.

How do I get air play?
That is simple. Upload some tracks and Julia (The Bot) plays. As for the live DJs', they choose what music they want to play. As they are usually browsing through the music here at IndieHitz, if they like what they hear, the chances are, they will eventually play it on air.

Can I BSP (Blatent Self Promote) in the forums?
As a general rule of thumb, no. However, we are about promoting, so we have a forum called "Promote Yourself here". Please use this to promote any new or updated tracks.

What's this simucast you are talking about?
Simucasting simply means more listeners and buyers. Not just artists listening to other artists which typically happens at OMD's. The good thing about the cable deal is that it is a revolving audience.

Why are you advertising other OMD sites?
Another very simple question to answer, it is networking, nothing more nothing less. The more sites you know about that have music or can store your music the more of a chance you will get your music heard. Again simple math.

What is your goal?
Our Goal here at Indiehitz.net is to help you the artists to be able to put up your quality Mp3s, videos and songs lyrics. As independent musicians, we hope our live radio shows along with our charts, DJ's, promotions, and being able to have streaming videos will help our bands in advertising you the artist in a huge market which is growing daily via the internet. Our listeners will enjoy our ipod casting soon as well as the quality audio we provide for our bands. You can sell your CD's here as well....so we hope you enjoy our site and take full advantage of what we have to offer to our artists.

Artist Questions
Do I keep all rights to music I upload?
Absolutely! You keep at all times all rights to your music. We just want to help you promote it and get it heard.

How many songs can I upload?
This depends on the artist plan you are. There is no limit as such on the number of songs you can upload, but it depends on how much space you have in your artist plan or quota you are on. In your artist admin area you will see how much space you have.

Help... I never received my activation email.
There is a possibility that your account hasn't been activated as of yet. However if you still don't here anything with a couple of days please Email us and we will look into it.
Also double check your spam box if using an online email account like Yahoo or AOL etc.

Do you only feature unsigned bands?
We only feature independent bands and artists, so if you are signed to a major label then no we won't feature your tracks. (It's probably also in your contract that you are not allowed too.)
However if you are signed to an independent label the chances are you are allowed to (and you still own the rights to your music.) then yes we will be able to feature you, your band and your music.

How do the charts work?
The charts are simply based on the number of plays over any period of given time. We will admit that our charts are not perfect, (there is no such thing as a perfect on line chart.) and it is possible to play them. But on saying this, as most bands here are the more serious artists, they realise the only people that gets cheated are themselves.

Can I sell my music at Indiehitz?
You most certainly can sell your tracks. You can set up the item to sell in your artist admin area. You need a PayPal account for this.

What percentage do you make from song sales?
None, zip, zero, nothing, nadda, 0, not a penny. The artist gets 100% from their sales. The only fee maybe transaction fees using paypal.

What application do your recommend?
Almost any media player that can stream will be able to connect to our streaming show. However we do recommend WinAMP

Do I have to register to listen to the radio shows?
No, nor do you have to register to browse our artist listing and listen to their great music.

Do I have to register to enter the chat room or the forums?
You don't have to register to enter the chat room, all you have to do is click the link enter in a user or nick name that you want to use. You don't need a password that is for the admin.
You don't need to register at the forum to read however if you want to participate then yes you do need to register an account. (This is free)

What is radio on demand?
IndieHitz.net doesn't have streaming radio 24 hrs a day, we have replaced it with radio on demand, you simply click the radio on demand logo and open the playlist of all artists and songs at indihitz.net in a random order and thats it, each time you open it it will be different.
